Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said he would not tolerate criminal practices if elected president of Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview with Trust TV, Obi criticised the fuel subsidy system, describing it as deeply flawed.
“Subsidy is organized crime. I will not allow any form of criminality as President of Nigeria.
“The amount of fuel they say we consume cannot be consumed by this country. There’s an empirical evidence.
“We are about the same size as Pakistan and they have more roads. We probably have same number of vehicles, or they have even more. Yet their fuel consumption is the third of ours. Who is drinking the balance?”
He questioned Nigeria’s fuel consumption figures, suggesting they do not align with available data and calling for accountability in the system.
