The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Aina Adesola, has ordered the strategic deployment of personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration scheduled for Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
CP Adesola assured Muslim faithful and residents of adequate security arrangements, including measures to protect lives and property, as well as ensure smooth traffic flow during the festivities.
He stated that a comprehensive operational plan involving regular police officers, tactical units, and other operational assets has been put in place at all Eid prayer grounds and key locations across the state.
The commissioner warned criminal elements, including cultists and other troublemakers, to stay away from unlawful activities, stressing that the command is fully prepared to respond decisively to any threat to public peace.
He also directed Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-driven raids on criminal hideouts and identified black spots, while the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has been tasked with ensuring proper coordination and supervision of all deployments to maintain peace before, during, and after the celebrations.
The command urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
