Air Peace has suspended a scheduled flight from Osubi in Delta State to Lagos after one of its aircraft experienced a bird strike while landing at Osubi Airport.
The airline disclosed the incident in a statement issued on Friday, explaining that the affected aircraft was immediately removed from service to undergo safety inspections.
According to Air Peace, initial assessments carried out by its engineering team indicated the need for additional checks on the aircraft’s landing gear.
“Preliminary inspections revealed the need for further checks on the landing gear, necessitating the grounding of the aircraft in accordance with established aviation safety procedures,” the statement said.
The development led to the cancellation of the aircraft’s scheduled return journey from Osubi to Lagos.
To reduce the inconvenience caused to passengers, the airline said it arranged hotel accommodation in Osubi while alternative travel plans are being finalized.
Air Peace apologised for the disruption and reiterated that passenger safety remains its top priority.
“At Air Peace, safety remains our foremost priority,” the airline stated.
“While disruptions of this nature are regrettable, every operational decision is guided by our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.”
The airline also thanked affected passengers for their patience and cooperation, assuring them that updates would be communicated as more information becomes available.
