Air Peace Delays Lagos–London Flight Due to Technical Issue

Air Peace has temporarily suspended one of its scheduled Lagos–London Gatwick flights after engineers discovered a technical issue during a routine inspection of the aircraft.

The airline confirmed the development in a statement shared via its official X account on Saturday, explaining that the issue was identified shortly after passengers had completed boarding procedures.

According to the airline, the aircraft was immediately removed from operation as part of its standard safety measures designed to protect passengers and crew members.

“Following the completion of passenger boarding, a routine post-boarding technical check identified a minor aircraft fault that required immediate attention,” the statement read.

After the issue was detected, all passengers were safely asked to disembark while the airline’s technical team began working to assess and resolve the fault.

Air Peace reiterated that operational safety remains central to its flight operations, stressing that precautionary decisions will always outweigh schedule considerations whenever passenger welfare is involved.

“At Air Peace, the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew will always take precedence over operational schedules,” the airline stated.

The carrier acknowledged the disruption caused by the delay and apologised to affected travellers, while insisting that the decision was necessary under the circumstances.

“While we understand the inconvenience this situation may have caused, taking swift preventive action was the responsible and necessary decision,” it added.

To reduce the impact of the disruption, the airline said passengers were informed immediately and provided with hotel accommodation as well as additional support services pending the resumption of the trip.

Air Peace also revealed that another aircraft would be deployed from London to operate the affected flight.

“To minimise further disruption, a replacement aircraft from London will be dispatched and passengers are scheduled to depart this morning,” the airline explained.

The airline concluded by thanking passengers for their patience, cooperation, and understanding during the delay, while reaffirming its commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient international operations.
