Federal Ministry of Works has announced a partial closure of sections of the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road beginning Monday as reconstruction work continues on the highway.
The Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Olayiwola Komolafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to him, the decision followed a directive from the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, instructing Messrs Arab Contractors to return to critical sections of the project for speedy completion.
The affected areas include the stretch from Ikorodu Roundabout to Sabo Junction in Lagos, as well as the section from Cement to Coca-Cola inward Sagamu.
Komolafe explained that traffic heading from Ikorodu toward Sagamu would be diverted through construction zones using a counterflow system.
He added that the project is expected to last three months to allow reconstruction work and proper curing of the rigid pavement.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will oversee traffic control during the construction period.
The ministry appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic officials and apologised for the inconvenience the roadwork may cause.
