Troops of the Nigerian Army have apprehended a suspected terrorist and seized a firearm during a patrol operation in Zamfara State.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Saturday. According to the report, the operation took place on April 3 at about 11:30 a.m.
The troops, who are part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and stationed at a Forward Operating Base in Kurya within Gusau Local Government Area, carried out the patrol that led to the arrest.
The suspect was reportedly intercepted at Tungan Haki village by personnel of the 1 Brigade Combat Team during a routine security sweep of the area.
Security sources revealed that the individual was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle. The weapon was said to be loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Both the suspect and the recovered firearm are currently being held by the military as investigations continue.
