Troops Kill Terrorists in Precision Zamfara Airstrike

Troops of the Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised several terrorists during a precision airstrike targeting a gathering of terrorist leaders in Zamfara State.

The military operation was carried out on May 10, 2026, following intelligence reports indicating a high-level meeting involving notorious terrorist commanders from different parts of the West African sub-region.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Aliyu Danja.

According to the statement, intelligence reports confirmed that the terrorists had converged at a hidden location in Tumfa Village, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The military explained that the meeting venue was located in a building on the northern outskirts of the village and concealed within a densely vegetated area surrounded by thick mango trees along a stream channel.

According to the statement, the gathering was aimed at coordinating attacks and other criminal activities targeting communities across the North West region.

The military said troops of Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, working closely with the Air Component, acted swiftly on the intelligence and launched a precision airstrike on the identified hideout.

“The strike successfully destroyed the structure, which served as the terrorists’ meeting point,” the statement said.

It further disclosed that a Battle Damage Assessment carried out after the operation confirmed that several terrorists were killed, while others escaped from the area in confusion.

The military also stated that aerial surveillance later detected movements of suspected terrorist associates attempting to evacuate casualties from the scene.

According to the statement, ground troops have continued clearance and exploitation operations in the area to track down fleeing terrorists and strengthen operational gains.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements threatening peace and security in the North West region.

The command also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to improve ongoing operations.
