Troops Survive Ambush, Neutralise 4 Terrorists in Katsina

Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded another operational success after neutralising four suspected terrorists during a routine patrol along the Turare–Yantumaki Road in Katsina State.

The development was revealed by Zagazola Makama, a security analyst known for monitoring insurgency activities in the Lake Chad region.

According to him, the incident occurred at about 11:40 a.m. on Friday when the troops were ambushed by armed assailants while carrying out their patrol duties.

Despite the sudden attack, the soldiers were said to have reacted quickly and decisively, overpowering the attackers. All four suspects were killed in the exchange, while the troops emerged without any casualties.

Following the encounter, security personnel recovered several items from the scene. These include an AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two motorcycles believed to have been used by the suspects, multiple mobile phones, and cash amounting to ₦153,400.

Further findings revealed that some of the recovered Android phones contained images showing the suspects dressed in military uniforms.

The devices have since been handed over for forensic analysis, which could provide additional intelligence on their operations and possible networks.

“Preliminary intelligence identified the neutralised suspects as Bishir Holami, Jamilu Baki, Ibrahim Doro, and Abdurraman Maje.

“The suspects were linked to a series of attacks in Gobirawa, Raddawa, Kuki, and other communities within Dutsinma and Matazu Local Government Areas,” he said.
