Troops Neutralise Three Suspected Terrorists in Katsina

Troops of the Nigerian Army operating under Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised three suspected terrorists during an ambush operation in Katsina State.

The operation reportedly took place along the Turare-Kitibawa-Kuka-Mai Damusa Road in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area.

The development was disclosed on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on X.

According to Makama, military sources said the operation was carried out by troops of the 17 Brigade stationed at the Forward Operating Base FUDMA as part of ongoing offensives against terrorists and criminal groups in the state.

The troops reportedly acted on intelligence regarding the movement of fleeing terrorists from the Matazu area and positioned themselves strategically along the route.

“At about 9:40 p.m. on May 9, troops successfully ambushed the terrorists while they were attempting to escape ongoing military operations in the area,” the source said.

Military sources added that one AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a motorcycle, cutlasses, charms, and cash were recovered during the operation.

Authorities said the mission forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and improve security across Katsina State and nearby communities.
