Troops Arrest Suspected Cultist in Cross River, Recover Weapons

Troops of 13 Brigade have arrested a suspected cultist during a late-night operation in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River, recovering several weapons in the process.

According to a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the arrest occurred around 11:00 p.m. on April 29 at a checkpoint in the Camp 4 area of Pamol Plantation.

Security sources said the suspect was stopped during routine checks by troops manning the checkpoint. A search led to the discovery of a locally made pistol, along with a machete, an axe, and a knife.

The suspect and the seized weapons are currently in military custody as investigations continue.

“The suspect and the recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action,” the sources said.

Authorities also noted that security presence in the area has been intensified to tackle cult-related violence and other criminal activities.
