The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has reaffirmed that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will continue to serve as an ordained pastor within the church, despite growing calls in some quarters for her removal.
Adeboye made this known during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service, where he addressed the issue directly. He clarified that Oluremi Tinubu’s ordination as an Assistant Pastor took place more than a decade ago—long before her husband, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressed interest in becoming Nigeria’s president.
Explaining further, the cleric noted that her ordination followed all the required processes and standards set by the church. He stressed that there has been no violation of RCCG’s doctrines or guiding principles that would justify any reconsideration of her position.
“She was properly ordained many years ago, long before the political journey of her husband to the presidency began,” Adeboye stated, underscoring the church’s position on the matter. He added that external pressure or public demands would not influence the church’s internal decisions.
According to him, the RCCG operates strictly on defined spiritual guidelines and administrative procedures, rather than reacting to political sentiment or public agitation.
Adeboye further maintained that the First Lady remains in good standing within the church and continues to fulfill her responsibilities in her pastoral role.
