Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspected kidnapper and seized several firearms during a mission in the Keana Local Government Area.

The command explained that the arrest occurred after officers from the State Intelligence Department (SID) raided a criminal hideout in Gidan Akuya village, acting on reliable tips.

In a statement released on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, noted that the operation is part of a continuous effort to stop kidnapping and other violent crimes in Nasarawa State.

According to the report, the suspects tried to flee when they saw the police team, but officers gave chase and caught 43-year-old Jibril Yunusa.

Nansel stated that a search of the location turned up an AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, and a homemade rifle.

He added that during questioning, the suspect admitted to participating in multiple kidnappings around the Keana and Awe areas and has shared helpful details for the ongoing investigation.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered officers to step up their search for the other gang members who escaped during the raid.

He praised the team for their professional work and reassured the public that the command remains dedicated to fighting crime and protecting everyone in the state.
