The Nigeria Police Force has reported a significant operational success by its Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), resulting in the arrest of three suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and the recovery of ten stolen vehicles in Kaduna State.
The suspects, Abubakar Musa (36), Hassan Umar (30), and Joshua Raphael (20) were apprehended on March 16, 2026, following intelligence-led operations.
In a statement signed by Anthony Okon Placid, preliminary investigations identified Musa as the principal suspect.
He was described as a dismissed corporal of the Nigerian Army who allegedly impersonated a serving soldier in order to avoid detection while carrying out criminal activities with his associates.
Further findings indicated that the group specialised in stealing vehicles and transporting them across locations while altering or removing registration details to conceal their identity and ownership.
The police operation led to the recovery of ten vehicles of various makes, including Toyota Hilux trucks, Toyota Corolla cars, a Pontiac Vibe GT, a Honda vehicle, a Lexus car, and a Toyota RAV4 SUV. Several of the recovered vehicles were reportedly found without registration numbers.
“Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate and recover additional exhibits,” it added.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives involved in the operation for what he described as professionalism and dedication.
He also reiterated the commitment of the police force to combating criminal activities and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the country.
