Troops have arrested three individuals suspected of supplying logistics to terrorist groups during a coordinated operation in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The arrest was revealed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on X, where he provided details of the operation. According to him, the suspects were apprehended at about 3:00 p.m. on April 15, 2026, by troops of the 233 Battalion in collaboration with members of a local hunters’ group.
The suspects are believed to have links to ISWAP and JAS elements operating in the North-East. They were reportedly intercepted while transporting supplies in a pickup vehicle during the operation.
Items recovered from the suspects included 14 cartons of drinks, three mobile phones, watermelons, and a cash sum of N69,450. Authorities suspect that these items were intended as logistical support for terrorist elements within the region.
“The suspects and exhibits are currently in custody for further investigation and necessary action,” Makama said.
The arrest forms part of broader efforts by security forces to weaken insurgent networks by targeting their supply chains. By cutting off access to essential goods and communication tools, authorities aim to limit the operational capacity of terrorist groups in the area.
Security operations are ongoing across the North-East, with a continued focus on dismantling support structures that enable insurgent activities.
