Three individuals have been brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over allegations that they forged the death certificate of the late Major Taiwo Mutairu Akangbe in an attempt to carry out a felony.
The suspects Gloria Agubosim (37), Olukoya Sunday (58), and Adeite Solomon (49) are facing two charges related to conspiracy and forgery.
According to the prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, the alleged offence took place on September 17, 2024, in the Shomolu area of Lagos. She told the court that the trio worked together with others who are still at large to falsify the document as part of a criminal plan.
The case was handled by the Monitoring Unit of the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja, with ASP Bright Omokharo serving as the Investigating Police Officer.
Prosecution further stated that the act violates sections 363(1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
All three defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
Magistrate L.A. Owolabi granted each of them bail set at ₦300,000, with a requirement of two sureties each in the same amount. The case has been adjourned until April 2 for further hearing.
If found guilty, the defendants could face up to 14 years in prison.
