3 Dead, 1 Injured in Ibadan-Lagos Expressway Accident

Tragedy struck on Sunday along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway as a road accident claimed the lives of three male adults.

The crash occurred at about 1:04 p.m. in the Oniworo area of the busy highway and involved a blue Lexus Jeep and an unregistered Boxer motorcycle. A total of eight individuals were caught up in the incident.

Details released by the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State indicate that three people lost their lives, one person sustained injuries, while four others escaped unhurt.

Speaking on the incident, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Odunsi Afolabi, attributed the crash to excessive speed, which led to a tyre burst.

“Total involved: eight (all male adults). Injured: one male adult; three killed.

“Suspected causes: speed violation (SPV) and tyre burst (TYB). The FRSC rescue team at the Ogunmakin Unit Command arrived at the scene within five minutes of receiving the call at 13:06 hrs.”

Emergency responders moved swiftly to manage the situation. The injured victim was transported to Victory Hospital in Ogere for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the FOS Morgue in Ipara.

Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, extended condolences to the families affected and urged motorists to prioritise safety by observing speed limits and ensuring their vehicles, particularly tyres, are in good condition.
