A member of a local hunters’ group has died following an accidental explosion during a joint patrol with troops in Adamawa State.
The incident was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X, where he cited security sources.
According to the report, the incident occurred at about 10:15 a.m. on April 24 when troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical), alongside members of the hunters’ group, were conducting a fighting patrol around Member Farm and Dogon Kuka areas in Gombi Local Government Area.
Makama explained that the patrol team was on its way back along the Garkida-Gombi axis when the explosion happened.
“One of the hunters reportedly stepped on a primed Rocket-Propelled Grenade, RPG, tube inside the gun truck, triggering a partial explosion,” he said.
The hunter sustained a severe fracture to his left leg as a result of the blast and was immediately evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.
However, despite efforts to save him, he later succumbed to his injuries.
