In a distressing turn of events, Joseph Aladesuyi, a respected council secretary, along with two other individuals, has been shot and abducted by suspected gunmen in Ilu-Abo, located within the Akure North council area of Ondo State.
This marks another alarming incident of its kind.
According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Aladesuyi, who serves as the secretary of the Okeluju LCDA, was taken captive alongside two companions.
Mr. Aladesuyi, also known as the CEO of a commercial farm, was reportedly en route to his farm with his daughter when their journey was violently interrupted. They were ambushed by the gunmen, who immediately opened fire.
Sources within the community revealed that approximately ten gunmen initiated the attack, firing upon the businessman before forcibly taking him to an undisclosed location. This sudden and brutal act has left local residents reeling in shock and confusion.
The precise whereabouts and condition of Mr. Aladesuyi remain unknown, though it has been confirmed that his daughter was left behind by the abductors.
This disturbing development has understandably ignited widespread panic and anxiety throughout the community, with many residents voicing serious concerns about their safety and security in the area.
In a rapid and fearful reaction to the incident, parents were observed rushing to schools to collect their children, driven by apprehension of further unknown dangers and potential attacks.
Attempts to reach DSP Jimoh Abayomi, the state police spokesperson, for official comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
