Police Kill 3 Bandits, Rescue Senator in Benue

In Benue State, police officers recently engaged in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the deaths of three suspected bandits.

Separately, they also successfully rescued Senator Udende Emmanuel following an attack on his convoy within the state.

These events were brought to light through a post shared on X this Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who referenced information from security sources.

The report indicates that the bandits were apprehended after security personnel responded to a tragic incident: the killing of a 67-year-old man in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.

Sources revealed that this particular incident occurred on March 7, around 7:30 p.m., when armed individuals, believed to be affiliated with a local kingpin known as Chen, abducted a resident named Zaki Sughter Agenbeer from his home in the Une Tongov community.

It was reported that the attackers led their victim into the bush, where they subsequently killed him, accusing him of providing intelligence about their activities to security agencies.

Following this distressing development, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Katsina-Ala, collaborating with the DPO in Ukum, quickly mobilized patrol teams and tactical units to the area to track down the suspects.

Security operatives eventually confronted the bandits in a gunfight, during which three of the suspects were fatally shot.

The victim’s body was later recovered and transported to the mortuary at Zaki Ibiam Hospital.

Currently, security teams have initiated a thorough search of nearby forests for any other gang members who managed to escape during the confrontation.

Meanwhile, the police were also called to another situation involving Senator Udende Emmanuel, who represents the Benue North-East Senatorial District.

Makama reported that the senator’s convoy came under attack from some youths during his visit to Tsua town in Vandeikya Local Government Area for a church service.

During this assault, one of the vehicles in the convoy reportedly sustained damage.

However, the Divisional Police Officer in Vandeikya swiftly dispatched officers to the scene, successfully extricating the senator from the precarious situation.
