The Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area in Kano State, Alhaji Hamza Musa Durba, was abducted on Friday night by unidentified gunmen.
Reports indicate that about six armed attackers stormed his residence in Dinya town, located within Durba Ward of Kibiya LGA, late in the night.
Confirming the incident, security sources said the assailants arrived on motorcycles and were heavily armed, although no gunshots were fired during the operation.
A security official in the area noted that the attackers carried out the abduction swiftly and in a coordinated manner, gaining access to the residence without drawing attention.
He further explained, “Members of the victim’s family present during the attack were left unharmed as the assailants focused solely on abducting their target.”
Residents described the incident as both alarming and unusual, particularly due to the absence of gunfire, and expressed concern over what they see as growing boldness among criminal groups in rural communities across the state.
Security agencies have been notified and have since launched a coordinated operation aimed at rescuing the victim and tracking down those responsible.
