Two people are feared dead following an evening fire that destroyed several houses in Sassawa community, located in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The Senator representing Yobe East, Musa Mustapha, confirmed the incident in a post on his verified Facebook page, where he also expressed sympathy with the victims and the families of the deceased.
“While we were celebrating the joyous moment of Eidul-Fitr, I got a sad call on the sudden fire outbreak that reportedly claimed the lives of two people and razed down significant part of Sassawa village in Damaturu Local Government.
“I deeply commiserate with the victims, in particular families of the deceased and those whose shelter and source of livelyhood have been directly affected by the fire outbreak,”, he posted.
The lawmaker added that he would engage relevant stakeholders and government agencies, including the State Emergency Management Agency, to help ease the suffering of those affected by the incident.
“May Allah forgive those that died and grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss,” he wrote.
