The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four men in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area, over allegations linked to criminal conspiracy, adultery, and conduct capable of disturbing public peace.
According to a report by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspects were handed over to the Azare Police Division by the Katagum Zonal Commander of Hisbah, Mallam Rilwan Khairan.
The arrested individuals were identified as Bashir Adamu, Auwalu Mohammed, Mohammed Mohammed, and Salisu Mohammed, all residents of different parts of Azare.
Police sources alleged that the men had agreed among themselves to exchange their wives for sexual relations, an arrangement authorities feared could trigger unrest within the community.
“The suspects were brought to the station by Hisbah officials following intelligence on their alleged arrangement to exchange spouses, which may likely cause breach of peace in the community,” a source said.
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and said legal action would follow once inquiries are concluded.
