Bandits Kill, Kidnap Residents in Kaduna Attack

Suspected bandits launched a violent assault on a community within the Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the deaths of several residents and the abduction of others.

The attack reportedly took place in the early hours of Monday.

Footage circulating on social media, shared on X by Hon. Nuhu Sada, the SDP candidate for the Kaduna State House of Assembly, captured scenes of intense fear and chaos, with the sound of gunfire and people’s screams audible in the background.

In one of his posts, Sada wrote: “Night of Terror in Makarfi, Zaria. This young boy watched helplessly as bandits kidnapped his grandmother. Is the North safe?”
An earlier video shared by the same user indicated that the raid was still in progress at the time of the post.

“Reports say bandits may have attacked Makarfi, Kaduna near Zaria tonight. People are screaming and running for their lives. Our hearts go out to the community. May they stay safe,” the post read.

In one of the clips, a young boy described how the gunmen forced their way into their home and assaulted family members before seizing his grandmother.

According to the boy, the attackers struck one woman with the butt of a gun and slapped another woman inside the house before taking his grandmother away.

“When they came, my grandmother asked me to give them our phones, which I did. They slapped the wife of the house and injured a woman with the edge of their gun before taking my grandmother,” the boy said in the video.
He further noted that the kidnappers fled the scene toward the Tashan Maliki direction after the raid.

The videos also depicted residents shouting and fleeing as gunfire “rained” in the background, while a voice could be heard advising people to stay indoors and avoid moving around.

At the time of this report, official authorities have not yet released a formal statement regarding the incident or confirmed the exact number of casualties and abductees.
