Armed bandits, reportedly disguised in women’s hijabs, launched a deadly attack on Mallamawar Yari village in the Gawakuke ward of Rabah Local Government Area, Sokoto State, on Saturday night, resulting in several fatalities and the abduction of numerous residents.
The details of the assault were shared on Sunday by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on X.
According to the report, the attackers used the hijabs as a disguise to move through the village without drawing attention before launching a large-scale assault under the cover of darkness.
In the course of the raid, several villagers lost their lives, while a significant number of others were seized and taken to an undisclosed location.
Bakatsine highlighted that the incident has intensified fears among the local population, as similar attacks persist across various communities in the state.
“Last night, armed bandits reportedly disguised in women’s hijabs attacked Mallamawar Yari village in Gawakuke ward, Rabah LGA, Sokoto State. Several residents were killed and many others abducted during the attack.
“With attacks continuing across communities in Sokoto State, the question remains; what concrete measures are being taken to halt the growing wave of insecurity in the state?,” Bakatsine wrote.
At the time of this report, official authorities have not yet released a formal statement regarding the incident.
