Bandits Attack Kaduna Wedding, Kill 13, Abduct Several

Suspected bandits have attacked a wedding ceremony in Kahir village, Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State, killing at least 13 people and abducting several others.

The incident occurred late Sunday night when armed assailants stormed the venue and opened fire on guests, throwing the community into chaos.

A resident, Shehu Bala, said the attackers arrived around 11:47 p.m. and began shooting inside the wedding hall.

“In fact, there are two of my friends who were inside the hall that also sustained bullet injuries during the attack,” he said.

Several injured victims were taken to Kagarko General Hospital, while others with severe injuries were moved to Kaduna for further treatment.

A community leader confirmed the death toll, noting that the victims have been buried, while efforts are ongoing to determine how many people were kidnapped. He also revealed that the attackers looted shops, carting away food items and drugs during the raid.

“The entire community was thrown into panic because of the heavy gunfire, forcing some residents to flee into the bush,” the community leader said.

Police authorities, including spokesperson Hassan Mansur, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are ongoing and a detailed report will be released.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe and other officials have visited the injured victims.
