The Abia State Police Command has reported 142 criminal cases between January and April 2, 2026, with 226 suspects arrested across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, disclosed this while briefing journalists, noting that many of the cases have been investigated and taken to court, with several suspects already remanded.
He revealed that 13 cult-related cases were handled, leading to the arrest and arraignment of 23 suspects, while 32 arms were recovered. An additional five cases are still under investigation.
The commissioner said the operations also led to the rescue of trafficked children, recovery of 46 firearms and 16 rounds of ammunition, and the dismantling of criminal networks within the state.
“These sustained operational efforts have contributed significantly to the reduction of crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, defilement and rape, child trafficking, unlawful possession of firearms, stealing, burglary, assault occasioning harm, malicious damage, advance fee fraud, among others,” he said.
He added that stolen vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles were recovered, while kidnapped victims were successfully rescued during the period.
