Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has shared his perspective on what sustains the enduring relevance of Afrobeats megastars Wizkid and Davido, pointing to the intense rivalry among their fanbases as a major factor.
He made the remarks during an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, where he discussed the dynamics of competition in the music industry.
According to Blaqbonez, while artists themselves can maintain mutual respect and even friendship, the rivalry between their fans plays a significant role in keeping them constantly in public conversation.
“Wizkid and Davido can never fade. That hatred is the reason why they will be relevant forever. When they love each other, it is over. Love is for children. Artists can love each other, but the fans should never love each other,” he expressed.
He explained that fan-driven competition often fuels online discussions, debates, and engagement, which in turn keeps artists visible and trending over long periods.
Blaqbonez also noted that he personally embraces competition, describing himself as a competitive artist who welcomes rivalry as part of the entertainment ecosystem.
