Burna Boy Joins Shakira on 2026 FIFA World Cup Anthem

Nigerian music star Burna Boy is set to take centre stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after being announced as a featured artiste on the tournament’s official song, “Dai Dai,” alongside global pop sensation Shakira.

The announcement has generated excitement among football and music fans worldwide, especially as it further highlights the growing global influence of Afrobeats and Nigerian music.

The official soundtrack is scheduled to be released on Thursday, May 14, ahead of the highly anticipated tournament that will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Shakira confirmed the collaboration in a social media post while teasing the upcoming release.

“From Maracanã Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready! ⚽️🐺 @burnaboy,” she wrote.

The collaboration also marks the second consecutive FIFA World Cup soundtrack to feature a Nigerian artiste. In 2022, Davido appeared on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together),” one of the official songs for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Burna Boy’s inclusion on the 2026 World Cup anthem further cements his status as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.

Over the years, the singer has earned international recognition through collaborations, sold-out tours, and award-winning projects that have expanded Afrobeats’ reach across different continents.

Meanwhile, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to be one of the biggest editions in the tournament’s history, with matches scheduled to take place across multiple cities in North America between June 11 and July 19.
