Turkey: Osimhen Scores in Galatasaray 3-0 Win Over Fenerbahçe

Victor Osimhen delivered a standout performance as Galatasaray cruised to a convincing 3-0 win over rivals Fenerbahçe in the Intercontinental Derby at Rams Park on Sunday evening.

The Super Eagles forward, who was making his first start after recovering from a five-week injury spell, wasted little time in making an impact. He broke the deadlock five minutes before halftime, controlling the ball expertly with his chest before finishing instinctively with his knee.

Osimhen appeared to have added a second goal shortly after the restart, but the effort was ruled out for offside just seven minutes into the second half.

In a notable moment during the game, the Nigerian striker — one of Galatasaray’s designated penalty takers — opted to hand over spot-kick duties to teammate Barış Alper Yılmaz, who successfully doubled the lead in the 67th minute.

Former Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira later capped off the performance with a third goal, sealing an emphatic victory for the home side.

Statistically, Osimhen’s performance stood out. Data from Whoscored showed he recorded eight shots from inside the penalty area — the highest by any player in a single Turkish Super Lig match this season. He also dominated aerially, winning five duels, the most in the game.

Out of his eight attempts, three were on target, and he created three key chances, with only Leroy Sané recording more in that category.

So far this season, Osimhen has registered 20 goals and seven assists in 31 appearances across all competitions, underlining his importance to Galatasaray’s attacking strength.
