Manchester United Not Ready for Title – Paul Merson

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has shared his assessment of Manchester United’s prospects for the upcoming Premier League season, expressing skepticism about their readiness to mount a serious title challenge.

United’s fortunes have improved in recent months following the appointment of Michael Carrick as interim manager in January, after the departure of Ruben Amorim.

Under his guidance, the team has steadily climbed the standings and currently occupies third place, trailing only Arsenal and Manchester City.

Despite this progress, Merson believes expectations should be tempered. In his view, United are not yet equipped to compete for the league title and should instead focus on more immediate, achievable goals.

“I don’t think Manchester United are ready to fight for the title next season,” Merson told Sportskeeda.

“Their sole focus should be on getting back into the Champions League.”
