Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has expressed confidence that Arsenal will still go on to win the Premier League title, despite their recent defeat in the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City.
Manchester City secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at Wembley on Sunday, thanks to a brace from Nico O’Reilly, clinching the first major trophy of the season.
The result has sparked talk that Pep Guardiola’s side may have gained a psychological edge in the title race.
However, speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher dismissed those concerns, pointing out that Arsenal remain in a strong position with a nine-point lead at the top of the table.
He said: “In terms of the Premier League, they’ve got a great lead.
“Yes, if they lose at Man City, it could be on. Of course, it could be, but if [the gap] was a lot tighter it would play into it a little bit more.
“Arsenal have been the best team in the league. They’ve only lost four games out of 50 in all competitions, let’s not get too carried away, let’s not forget that.”
