Carabao Cup Final: Guardiola Makes Bold Claim After Arsenal Win

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has downplayed the suggestion that their recent Carabao Cup triumph over Arsenal will have any impact on the Premier League title race.

Guardiola believes the outcome might actually serve as a wake-up call for Arsenal, helping them sharpen their focus ahead of their trip to the Etihad Stadium later this month.

City claimed a 2-0 win at Wembley on Sunday, thanks to a pair of second-half headers from Nico O’Reilly.

The two sides are set for a high-stakes rematch in the Premier League on April 19.

At this stage, City find themselves trailing Arsenal by nine points with eight fixtures left to play.

Guardiola said, “I don’t think the Carabao Cup win will have an impact.

“It’s a different competition, and when Arsenal come to the Etihad, they’ll be more focused. Winning a title is always hard, so it’s a joy and a satisfying achievement.”
