Why I Left PDP and APC – Amaechi

Former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi has explained why he left both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he was forced out of both platforms.

Amaechi, now a presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), spoke during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, where he recounted his political journey.

According to him, his exit from the PDP was driven by the actions of former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, whom he accused of taking control of the party structure in Rivers State.

He added that a similar situation played out in the APC after he contested the party’s presidential primary against the current president, Bola Tinubu.

Asked why he moved between parties, Amaechi said:

“I was chased out of PDP, APC by the then president.

“The president and his wife took over the party structure in Rivers State and chased me out. The same thing happened in APC.”
