The All Progressives Congress (APC) has addressed the indefinite suspension of one of its members in Rivers State, Fubara Dagogo.
Dagogo, a party chieftain, was suspended by executives of Ward 4 in Bonny Local Government Area. The action followed allegations of anti-party activities leveled against him.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, explained that taking disputes outside the party’s internal processes can have serious consequences. According to him, members are expected to resolve disagreements through established party channels before seeking legal intervention.
The issue reportedly began when Dagogo initiated a lawsuit against the party concerning its forthcoming national convention. He claimed to have paid N5.1 million for a nomination form but alleged that the party failed to provide the necessary documentation to complete his candidacy.
Commenting further, Morka said, “Zoning elective offices is a practice we’ve grown accustomed to in our democracy.
“It’s a mechanism the party uses to ensure spread, inclusion and participation, preventing offices from being disproportionately concentrated in one area.
“The APC constitution is clear, when a dispute arises between an individual and the party, you’re required to exhaust internal reconciliation mechanisms.
“Going to court before exploring these mechanisms could lead to expulsion, not just suspension.”
