The Obidient Movement has appealed for calm among its supporters as reports continue to circulate about a possible political realignment involving Peter Obi and other opposition leaders.
In a statement shared on X, the National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, acknowledged the growing public interest and concern surrounding recent political developments.
“The Obidient Movement acknowledges the growing concerns and widespread reports regarding recent political developments in the political landscape and evolving engagements with current and potential partners,” the statement said.
According to the movement, Obi is currently engaged in consultations with political allies and key stakeholders as part of efforts to determine what it described as the most strategic direction for Nigerians.
While speculation continues to build, the group urged its supporters not to be distracted by unverified reports, emphasising that official communication would be provided in due course.
“We urge all Obidients to remain calm, patient, and focused. Do not be swayed by speculative reports. Peter Obi remains fully committed to this mission and will, in due course, formally address the Obidient Movement and the general public to provide clarity on the current situation and the direction ahead.”
The statement also highlighted that all ongoing discussions are guided by the movement’s core principles, including integrity, accountability, and active citizen participation. It maintained that any eventual decision would align with its broader vision of building a “New Nigeria.”
“Our strength lies in our unity and focus. Let us remain steadfast as we await further communication,” it added.
The development comes amid increasing reports suggesting a possible alignment between Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, as opposition figures explore new strategies ahead of the next election cycle.
