Osun Police Deny Assassination Attempt on B-Red in Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command has refuted reports suggesting that Adebayo Adeleke, widely known as B-Red and son of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, survived an assassination attempt in Osogbo.

The police described the claim as false and unverified, warning that such reports could create unnecessary panic among residents.

The controversy followed an earlier statement from the state government, signed by Kolapo Alimi, which claimed that the incident occurred around Oke-Fia in Osogbo.

However, responding to enquiries, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, provided a different account, clarifying that while an incident was reported, it did not amount to an assassination attempt.

“The Osun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of an incident reported on 30th April 2026 at about 1630 hrs by Mr. Adebayo David Adeleke,” he said.

According to Ojelabi, B-Red reported that he was being followed by a group of individuals riding motorcycles while driving through the Olaiya–Alekuwodo area of Osogbo.

“the individuals were allegedly pointing at his vehicle and chanting words suggesting he was ‘the Governor’s son’.”

He added that after passing a traffic light, a white Toyota Venza without a registration number, along with the group, continued to trail him.

Despite the situation, the complainant and those with him were able to leave the area safely and head toward a secure location.

“The complainant stated that he and his associates were able to leave the area and safely made their way into the Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo,” Ojelabi said.

The police emphasised that no attack took place and that the complainant was not physically harmed at any point during the incident.

The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further discreet investigation.

Reaffirming its position, the command cautioned against spreading unverified information.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that the report, as presently being circulated, is false, unverified, and capable of causing unnecessary tension and panic among members of the public,” he added.
