No Guarantee Atiku Will Defeat Obi in Primaries – Dele Momodu

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dele Momodu, has said there is no certainty that Atiku Abubakar would defeat Peter Obi in a party primary.

Speaking on The Morning Brief on Channels Television, Momodu noted that the political landscape remains fluid ahead of the 2027 elections.

“There is no guarantee that Atiku will defeat Obi at the primaries.

“Obi is not my enemy. Okay, so it’s good that he goes and test his popularity elsewhere. So let others also do the same. But you cannot force Atiku.”

He questioned assumptions about voter loyalty, suggesting that past electoral support may not automatically translate into future victories.

“How are you sure that Atiku will retain all those who voted for him the last time? What is the guarantee that Obi and Kwankwaso are the only people who will retain all those who voted for them the last time?”

Momodu added that shifting political dynamics could significantly affect outcomes, including for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The situation has changed. Tinubu today, if he allows a free and fair election, might not even get three million votes,” he said.
