Katsina ADC Accuses INEC Over Party Leadership Dispute

The Katsina State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its handling of the party’s leadership dispute.

Speaking at a press briefing in Katsina, the state chairman, Alhaji Lawal Tukur Batagarawa, accused the commission of wrongly interpreting a recent Court of Appeal ruling and creating confusion within the party.

According to him, the removal of the party’s leadership from INEC’s portal was based on a misinterpretation of the judgment, which he described as misleading.

“In the last one week, we have seen INEC remove the leadership of ADC from its portal, claiming it followed the judgment of the Court of Appeal. The court maintained the status quo in the leadership dispute precipitated by Nafiu Bala Gombe, but INEC deliberately interpreted this to mean suspending the entire leadership structure of the ADC. This is a shame.”

Despite the development, the party said it would proceed with all scheduled activities, including congresses and its national convention.
