The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has restated its firm backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, rejecting claims that it has pulled support for his potential second-term bid.
In an official statement issued on April 17, 2026, and signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi Soja, the APC described the report as entirely false. The claim was allegedly circulated by a group identifying itself as the Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter.
According to the party, the statement does not reflect its position and should be seen as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and damage the party’s image.
The APC stressed that no authorised or constitutionally recognised body within its Kano structure has made any decision to withdraw support from the President. Instead, it reaffirmed its continued alignment with Tinubu’s leadership and policies.
“The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party,” the statement said.
It added, “We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State.”
The party went further to highlight its confidence in the President’s administration, noting ongoing efforts toward economic reform, improved governance, and national development.
Under the leadership of Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, the Kano APC called on both its members and the wider public to disregard the circulating claim. It described the statement as the handiwork of individuals seeking to stir unnecessary tension within the party.
“The so-called signatory of the purported withdrawal is faceless and not a stakeholder of the party at any level in Kano,” the statement added.
