The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the commencement of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise in Rivers State ahead of future electoral activities.
According to the commission, the exercise will begin on Monday, May 11, 2026, and will be conducted daily between 9am and 3pm at INEC offices located across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The commission also disclosed that the registration exercise would later be extended to Registration Areas and ward levels on a rotational basis to make the process more accessible to residents.
INEC explained that the exercise, scheduled to end on July 10, 2026, is intended to provide eligible Nigerians who have not yet obtained their Permanent Voter Cards the opportunity to register.
The commission added that already registered voters who wish to transfer their voter registration or update personal information would also be accommodated during the exercise.
In a statement signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, the electoral body appealed to stakeholders to cooperate with the commission in ensuring a peaceful and seamless process.
The statement read, “The Commission further calls for support and cooperation from all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations, the media and the general public, to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.”
INEC further urged all eligible residents across Rivers State to take advantage of the registration window before the July 10 deadline.
