Gov Abba Yusuf Accuses Deputy of Plot to Oust Him

Abba Kabir Yusuf has accused his former deputy, Aminu Abdussalam, of attempting to remove him from office and take over leadership of Kano State.

The governor made the claim while addressing a group of supporters, Mawallafan Abba Gida Gida, at the Government House in Kano.

Abdussalam, also known as Gwarzo, had earlier resigned from his position amid impeachment moves by the state House of Assembly, which were later halted following his exit.

Speaking on the development, Yusuf said he had neither received nor seen the resignation letter, questioning the circumstances surrounding his deputy’s decision.

“Today, the deputy governor who was elected alongside us is no longer part of this government. No one wronged him. In fact, I have not even come across his resignation letter, so why should I be concerned about it?” he said.

He further alleged that Abdussalam’s действия were part of a failed attempt to unseat him.

“Whatever pushed him to act in that manner was an effort to depose me and occupy the seat, but God did not permit it,” Yusuf added.

The governor also raised concerns about how his former deputy was treated within the Kwankwasiyya Movement, suggesting he may not have been given a fair opportunity.

“The deputy governor who left in hopes of getting that ticket—what was his offence? Why wasn’t he given the chance? Isn’t that unfair to him?” Yusuf asked.
