The New Nigeria Peoples Party has encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the country’s current difficulties, describing the situation as a temporary phase that will eventually give way to better days.
In an Easter message signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, the party said this year’s celebration comes at a time when many citizens are facing serious economic and security challenges.
Johnson highlighted concerns over governance issues and rising insecurity, noting that recent attacks in parts of the country, including Plateau State, have left many families grieving and displaced.
“Our hearts are heavy as we reflect on the senseless killings and attacks in Plateau State and other troubled regions across the federation,” he stated.
“We remember those who have suffered, those who have been displaced, and the families who are marking this holy season with empty chairs at their tables. Their sacrifices and pain will not be in vain.”
Despite these challenges, the NNPP urged citizens not to lose faith, drawing parallels between the Easter message and Nigeria’s current situation, emphasizing that hope and renewal remain possible.
“The stone of poor governance, economic instability, and fear currently blocking our path to greatness will be rolled away,” he said.
“The NNPP remains committed to the vision of a New Nigeria, a nation where security of life and property is a priority, and where leadership is a tool for service, not for the enrichment of a few.”
The party called on Nigerians to use the Easter period for reflection and prayer, while also remaining actively engaged in shaping the nation’s future.
“The cross came before the crown. Though we endure the cross of bad governance today, the crown of a prosperous and secure Nigeria is within our reach if we do not lose hope.”
