Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over internal party tensions, accusing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of actions that could weaken the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The petition, dated April 22, 2026, was submitted at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja and made public by Olosasa Toyin, alongside signatories Onimasa Hazmat Ganeey and Abdulraheem Alabi.
In their complaint, the group accused the governor of “de-marketing” the party through unpopular policies, weak security management, and what they described as exclusion of party members and the wider public.
They also alleged that AbdulRazaq is positioning Danladi Yakubu as his preferred successor for 2027, warning that such a move could spark internal divisions.
The stakeholders claimed that party members attempting to contribute to development efforts have been sidelined, while dissenting voices face pressure through legal and security channels.
They further argued that the governor’s actions have eroded his support base, particularly in Kwara Central and Kwara South, describing him as a political liability.
On the reported attempt to revisit the 2018 Offa robbery case linked to former Senate President Bukola Saraki, the group described the move as politically driven and potentially counterproductive.
They warned it could generate sympathy for Saraki and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), thereby affecting APC’s future electoral chances.
The petitioners called on the President and party leadership to step in, urging caution to prevent further divisions within the party in Kwara State.
