No Crisis at University of Jos, Army Confirms

The University of Jos authorities, alongside the Nigerian military, have refuted claims circulating online about unrest and destruction within the campus, labeling the report as inaccurate and misleading.

The story, which gained traction across social media platforms, alleged that “student grievances had escalated into chaos” and hinted at a breakdown of security within the institution. It was also shared with an image that supposedly captured scenes of violence at the university.

In contrast, information obtained from university officials confirms that the campus remains peaceful, with academic and social activities proceeding without disruption.

Further clarification revealed that the image attached to the report was fabricated. Investigations show it was created using artificial intelligence and does not represent any real event within or near the university environment.

A senior security official disclosed to security analyst Zagazola Makama that the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Major General E.F. Oyinlola, personally visited the University of Jos with troops shortly after the report emerged.

According to authorities, the deployment was aimed at verifying the situation on ground and reassuring both students and staff of their safety. They emphasized that there is no existing security threat on campus.
