Nigerian Army Rescues 11 Kidnap Victims, Arrests Suspects

The Nigerian Army has reported the rescue of at least 11 kidnapped victims and the arrest of several terror and criminal suspects during coordinated operations carried out nationwide within the last 24 hours.

In an update shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, the Army said troops recorded “significant operational successes across multiple theatres,” noting that the operations “dealt decisive blows to terrorists, rescued kidnapped victims and disrupted criminal networks.”

In the North-East, troops arrested a suspected ISWAP/JAS logistics courier in Ngamdu, Borno State. The suspect reportedly admitted to aiding insurgent activities in Gubio and Magumeri.

Further arrests were made in Monguno, where two suspected collaborators linked to a terrorist leader were apprehended. Recovered items included “4 android phones, 3 wristwatches, a power bank, 2 pairs of terrorist uniforms, one mudu of garri, and ₦135,500,” while the suspect’s wife and three children were also taken into custody for investigation.

Elsewhere, troops rescued six kidnapped victims in Bauchi State, an effort the Army said “reinforced ongoing search-and-rescue operations” in affected areas.

In Yobe State, soldiers intercepted a truck in Nguru that was “falsely declared as carrying beverages but found loaded with large consignments of medical supplies intended for illicit cross-border movement.” Items recovered included antibiotics, syrups, injections, and bandages, with “the driver and three occupants are currently in custody.”

Operations in the North-West saw the arrest of a suspected drug peddler in Katsina with 487 grams of cannabis. In Zamfara, troops responding to a distress call “rescued two abducted NDLEA personnel, neutralised threats, and apprehended one terrorist,” while the victims received medical attention.

In Plateau State, troops “thwarted cattle rustling attempts, recovering 92 cattle and rescuing an injured herder,” and also arrested two suspects with weapons and cash.

Additional operations in the Federal Capital Territory led to the discovery of an illegal mining site, while in Rivers State, troops dismantled illegal refining facilities containing large quantities of stolen crude oil.

In Edo State, security operatives arrested a suspected kidnapper, with the Army noting that the operations “reflect enhanced inter-agency collaboration and intelligence-driven engagements.”

Reaffirming its commitment, the Army stated it remains “unwavering in its resolve to defend the nation’s territorial integrity and protect lives and property,” urging citizens to continue sharing credible information with security agencies.
