Nigerian Army Arrests Terror Suspects, Intercepts Supplies

The Nigerian Army has announced significant operational gains recorded across different parts of the country within the last 24 hours, including the interception of suspected terrorist logistics supplies, disruption of planned attacks, and the rescue of kidnapped victims.

Details of the operations were contained in an official report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, highlighting coordinated efforts by troops deployed under various operations.

In the North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully intercepted a truck transporting a large consignment of medical supplies suspected to be destined for terrorist groups. The interception occurred at a checkpoint in Nguru, Yobe State.

According to the report, the driver initially presented documentation indicating the cargo contained beverages and household items. However, a closer inspection revealed hundreds of cartons filled with medical supplies, including antibiotics, injections, bandages, and other items.

The driver and three other occupants were arrested, and preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment was allegedly intended for delivery to the Republic of Chad via Geidam.

“In a related development, troops arrested a suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorist in Ngamdu, Borno, who confessed he was sent from Jilli to procure food items for insurgents.

“The suspect disclosed that terrorists were currently converging around the Gubio and Magumeri areas.

“Troops also arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators in Monguno, who were allegedly facilitating the movement of a terrorist’s family members.

“Items recovered from them included mobile phones, cash and other personal effects, while a woman and her three children linked to a terrorist kingpin were later apprehended,” the report said.

The report further indicated that troops foiled an attempted infiltration by insurgents in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. During the encounter, troops engaged the attackers in an ambush, forcing them to retreat and abandon weapons and other items.

Subsequent follow-up operations led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims from a terrorist hideout.

In Bama Local Government Area, troops conducted clearance operations that resulted in the destruction of a terrorist camp, compelling insurgents to withdraw under sustained military pressure.

Elsewhere, troops of Operation Safe Haven in Plateau State recovered weapons during stop-and-search operations, while in Bauchi State, security forces arrested a suspected gunrunner and rescued additional kidnapped victims following intelligence gathered from earlier airstrikes.

In the Federal Capital Territory, troops involved in anti-illegal mining operations raided a site in Gwagwalada, recovering equipment as suspects fled the scene.

In the South-South region, troops of Operation Delta Safe intervened in a communal clash in Delta State, restoring calm after one fatality was recorded. They also intensified efforts against illegal oil activities in Rivers State, destroying illegal refining sites and recovering significant quantities of stolen crude oil and refined products.

The military reiterated its commitment to sustaining offensive operations across all regions, with a focus on disrupting criminal networks, cutting off supply chains, and enhancing overall security nationwide.
