The Niger State Government has strongly condemned recent bandit attacks on communities in Shiroro Local Government Area, describing the violence as brutal and unacceptable.
The affected communities—Erena, Bagna, and Yelwa—were reportedly attacked by heavily armed assailants, resulting in loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of residents.
In a statement, the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to victims’ families.
“The Government of Niger State is deeply pained by this tragic development. These mindless acts of violence against innocent citizens are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We share in the grief of the affected families and assure them that government stands firmly with them in this difficult time,” he said.
He assured residents that the government is working closely with security agencies to tackle the situation and restore peace.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and support security efforts by providing useful information.
