Natasha Akpoti Plans Free Wi-Fi for Kogi Central

The lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has announced plans to facilitate the installation of free Wi-Fi in strategic locations across her constituency as part of efforts to promote youth employment and digital innovation.

She disclosed this in a Facebook post on Monday following her visit to Idah Local Government Area in Kogi East, where she joined leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in receiving new defectors into the party.

The senator explained that the initiative was inspired by a suggestion from one of the defectors, identified as Idris HK, who proposed deploying free internet access across parts of Kogi East to support content creators and young entrepreneurs.

She wrote, “I stood there loving the idea as a necessity to facilitating job creation for our youths. Whilst he spoke, he mentioned installing free Wi-Fi in strategic locations across the Eastern District to support content creators’ internet access.

“So, in the spirit of collaboration and ‘Kogi Central no dey take last’, here’s me pledging to do the same for our beloved Kogi Central.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that the plan would be replicated in Kogi Central, emphasising the importance of expanding digital access as a means of driving economic opportunities for young people, especially those involved in content creation, online businesses, and tech-driven ventures.

She added that discussions with internet service providers would begin immediately, alongside efforts to identify suitable locations for deployment across the district.

“Internet providers shall be contacted, proper locations identified, and installations done soon,” she assured.

The senator also used the opportunity to call for greater unity among Kogi State’s three senatorial districts, urging leaders to embrace collaboration rather than rivalry in pursuit of development.

She said, “Here’s to forward-thinking leadership. Cheers to smart collaboration, not unhealthy competition amongst the Central, Eastern, and Western districts of Kogi State. Cheers to our great party, the PDP.”
