Katsina–Kano Attack: Troops Recover 2 Police Bodies

Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered the bodies of two police personnel after successfully repelling suspected terrorists along a critical route connecting Katsina and Kano states.

The operation followed intelligence reports indicating that armed men had set up a roadblock along the Yargajam–Sabon Garin–Garu axis, a known corridor between the two states. According to security sources, the incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on April 8, prompting a swift response from troops of the 17 Brigade.

Details of the operation were shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited information from security sources.

Upon arrival at the location, the troops reportedly fired warning shots, forcing the suspected terrorists to abandon their position and flee toward Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

“On sighting the troops, the terrorists abandoned the roadblock and retreated into nearby areas,” a source said.

Following the initial engagement, soldiers conducted a search of the area, during which they discovered the bodies of two personnel of the Nigeria Police Force. The officers are believed to have been killed by the fleeing attackers prior to the arrival of the troops.

The remains were subsequently evacuated from the scene and handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Gidan Mutum Daya, Katsina State.

Security agencies have since intensified efforts to track down the suspects, with increased patrols along the affected route to prevent further incidents.

The Yargajam–Sabon Garin–Garu corridor has long been associated with recurring security challenges, prompting sustained joint operations by military and police forces aimed at safeguarding commuters and residents in the area.
