Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash Leaves 1 Dead, 4 Injured

One person has been confirmed dead and four others seriously injured following a road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The crash occurred at the Lifemate axis and involved a Toyota Highlander and a DAF truck. According to the spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the incident happened around 7 a.m. when the SUV rammed into the rear of the moving truck.

He explained that the truck, which was transporting cocoa, had three occupants, while five people were inside the jeep at the time of the crash.

“Unfortunately, out of the five occupants in the vehicle, the driver lost his life while others were injured.”

The injured victims were attended to, while the deceased was taken away by relatives present at the scene.

Authorities have urged motorists to avoid speeding, especially with the onset of the rainy season, and to prioritise road safety.
